OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Opportunity

We are recruiting for a Trainee Quality Inspector for this well established, family-owned engineering business. The company perform a variety of services, including design, manufacture and installation of Mechanical and Electrical products into the Rail and Power Industry.

 

The Position

As the Trainee Quality Inspector you will aspire to meet the following requirements;

  • Responsible for ensuring all products meet high quality standards via inspection and sign-off of product.
  • Reporting any failures to production and management teams.
  • Tracking and ensure improvement of failures before product release.
  • Responsible for raising, continual development and monitoring of PQCA.
  • Working with our QHSE Manager to ensure EMI QA procedures are implemented.
  • Development of facility PQCA systems and implementation, tracking and KPI reporting.
  • If required, attend site to review any client PQCA non-conformance.
  • To carry out some inspection work.
  • To assist in the maintenance of a clean and tidy working environment.
  • To complete a wide variety of general tasks as may be required within the workshop, this may include the delivery / collection of goods to / from other locations.
  • To be able to operate machinery, hand tools and power tools in a safe manner.
  • To work in a safe manner at all times having due regard for themselves and others.
  • To liaise with customers and suppliers as required.
  • To perform, record and be responsible for Quality, Inspection and Testing (QIT) of production client and/or project deliverables through the full life-cycle of the manufacturing process(es).

 

The Person

  • To have a good understanding of PC skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • To have good communication skills and confidence to deal with client.
  • To be able to work unsupervised on general duties of a mechanical / electrical nature, using initiative to co-ordinate the task in an efficient manner.
  • Ideally have an understanding of electrical / mechanical drawings and spreadsheets and general work instructions.
  • To work to set procedures and within a quality system.
  • The ability to set up and maintain records.
