OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

Overview

Due to growth we are currently recruiting for a Topographical Surveyor on behalf of a successful surveying company. They provide a range of surveying services including Utility, Topographical, GPR, Drainage and Building.

Established over 10 years, they provide their services to a range of sectors including commercial, residential, educational and heritage. They cover projects across the South East.

The ideal candidate would have minimum 2 – 3 years’ experience of producing detailed underground topographical surveys and must be able to demonstrate experience in the use GPS and Total Station equipment to produce a detailed topographical survey.

This is a permanent position working Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week. The salary is paying £30k – £40k per annum depending on experience. Perks include company vehicle, pension, private healthcare, performance bonuses, excellent career opportunities, training & development opportunities etc.

Hours are usually 8am to 4pm with allowance for a 2 hour drive each side. Some Nights and working away are required occasionally. You will receive 23 days annual leave plus bank holidays to start with. They offer an extra day every year after 2 years of service up to 28.

 

Responsibilities

  • Carry out site surveys as required by the work instruction.
  • Undertake thorough and detailed topographical surveys and conduct paperwork in accordance with company procedures.
  • Liaising with other site surveyors, contractors, suppliers, clients.
  • Carry out appropriate quality control checks before drawings issued to customer.
  • Mentor and train less experienced surveyors.
  • Overseeing technical aspects of projects to ensure quality delivery.
  • Recording of utility mapping survey markings.
  • Must be self-motivated, have the ability to follow instructions and to work on their own initiative.

 

Skills & Attributes

  • Previous experience working as a Topographical Surveyor, ideally with supervisory experience.
  • Advanced skills in the use of GPS and TPS.
  • Ability to use CAD and SSC controller preferred but not essential.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience of underground utility mapping and GPR.
  • Knowledge of Topographical Surveying equipment beneficial but not essential.
  • Experience working across a wide variety of environments and on complex surveys.
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Ability to work away from home occasionally
  • CSCS qualification is beneficial but not essential
  • The ability to work independently and use your own initiative.
