OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Tendering Engineer on behalf of an established market leader and provider of water treatment technologies to all municipal water companies in the UK and Ireland. Their products and services help protect the health of the rivers, seas and drinking water which we all rely on.

Operating for over 25 years, they are part of a bigger group made up of 5 companies. This company has over 120 members of staff working for it. They provide solutions for water management, waste water treatment, clean water treatment and surface water management.

Their head office is based in Cornwall and they are a Tier 1 contractor for all major water utility companies. They are the largest manufacturer of static and mechanical CSO screens in Europe. They manufacture flood management products, large scale sewage treatment tanks and filtration products. They offer the full package which is planning, design, manufacture, through to installation and commissioning.

This is mainly an office based role with occasional site visits using a company pool car. They do also offer a 2-day Hybrid homeworking option.

They are expanding the Tendering and Estimating team to maintain their growth trajectory. We are looking for experienced Mechanical or Civil Tendering Engineers to play a key part in the growth plans by managing the preparation of tenders for NEC3/ NEC4 subcontracts typically ranging from £0.5m to £1m, sometimes up to £10m.

Salary is negotiable depending on experience.

 

Responsibilities

  • “My job delivers major projects for sustainable water treatment solutions which facilitate healthy rivers, seas and drinking water provision. “
    Managing a portfolio of tendering and estimating water and wastewater treatment projects with cost and price development to tender submissions and order placement to meet customer tender deadlines.
  • Assist in establishing a solution to the client’s requirements and undertake feasibility studies with the Area Manager, Engineering, Projects and Supply Chain team
  • Prepare and analyse project costings for tenders, including materials, quantities, labour and time
  • Develop a sound working knowledge of the company’s engineering and technology (training will be provided)
  • Compiling tender documentation for submission to client, submitting offers to client document portal (ie. Bravo, CEMAR, a-site, Ariba etc.)

 

Ideal candidates will:

  • Have experience of tendering / estimating engineering or civil works as a sub-contractor.
  • Have a quantity surveying or commercial management qualification/part qualification accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) / or similar
  • Have a strong commercial acumen and/or management accounting experience
  • Have good Excel modelling skills
  • Have qualifications in mechanical or civil engineering
  • The role requires excellent communication skills and stakeholder management in a collaborative working environment.
