The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing team within this successful mattress manufacturing business. If you are an experienced Tape/Edger who enjoys working in a busy, dynamic environment, this could be the role for you.

The Role

To collect a clipped mattress from the storage area and place on Tape/Edge machine. You will be required to sew around the uppermost side of this unit, then turn the unit over and repeat the process on the other side.  The finished unit is then lifted and is placed on the conveyor belt. Reporting directly to the Mattress Supervisor and will be expected to work closely with the Material Feeders, Clippers, Tufters, the Supervisor and the Quality Inspector.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete tasks with only 2 tape joins permitted and check join does not appear on label end of unit
• Ensure that all units are finished off by cutting the tape, folding the tape back and then running over with cotton, and trimming any cotton trails
• Ensure that all materials on the clipped unit are centralised
• Check all units are free from contamination (dirt, dust, fillings, oil etc)
• Ensure that machine is in good working order, reporting any defects to the Supervisor
• Check all units are stacked on conveyor belt in a safe manner
• Each finished unit should be marked with your identification mark to assist in traceability
• Maintain the cleanliness of your machine and surrounding work area – that they are free from any waste materials, as these can cause a slip or trip hazard
• Ensure you follow all quality standards that are in place
• Always were personal protective equipment where instructed to do so
• Always operate within and follow all health and safety guidelines
• To carry out any other reasonable request from Management deemed necessary to contribute to the effective operation of the factory or site
