A client of ours based in Manchester, who specialise in the manufacture / production of components for the oil and gas sector, are looking to recruit an experienced Tactical Purchasing Manager. The ideal candidate will come from an Engineering / Manufacturing background and have previous experience in a similar role. The successful candidate will manage a team of tactical buyers and will be managing projects within a purchasing environment to support specific business needs. The role will be working Monday – Friday with a half day finish on Friday.
Responsibilities
- Directly manage a team of Tactical buyers
- Manage and improve the Purchase Orders issuing process and follow up with approval compliance process, Open PO reports communication to suppliers in support of materials expediting and inventory control.
- Constantly improve the process of Managing MRP exception to avoid obsolete material and guarantee the correct material delivery and inventory control
- Ensure Material Availability with correct timing to support Site production
- Ensure Inventory stock levels availability; support Operation initiatives on the same activity driven by Regional Planning Organization in view of end to end supply chain optimization.
- Manage, in agreement with the relevant Sourcing Project Leader, replenishment strategy definition and review
- Monitor and report Supplier OTD
- Collaborate with site associates and engage with vendors to coordinate production and shipping activities and to resolve complaints or eliminate delays.
- Contribute to new products introduction for new components and depletion process for obsolete materials
- Ensure data reliability for Customs compliance through RFI follow ups with vendors and compliance teams
- Ensure Vendor and Material Master data update for process approval in control of Principal
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 5 years functional experience, and experience in procurement and material management role
- Outstanding numerical, quantitative analytical thinking, organizational abilities and project management and negotiation skills.
- Experience in resolving materials flow issues, within a matrix functional organization.
- Ability to influence others & build productive, motivated, committed, high performance teams.
- Ability to build, develop and maintain positive working relationships both internally and externally.
- Ability for high problem identification and problem resolution, demonstrated ability to make sound judgment and decisions.
- Strong managerial courage, assertiveness and ability to work through resistance to change
- Self- driven personality; High attention to detail required

- Knowledge & experience in working with manufacturing based technology & systems / tools, SAP etc. is key to support efficiency and measure KPI’s.
- Experience working with SAP is essential
