Overview
Due to growth, we are currently recruiting for 2 Service Engineers on behalf of industry leaders who design, manufacture and install heavy lifting and handling equipment for the rail industry.
Established over 50 years, their machinery can lift entire trains or even just parts such as wheels, engines etc. They have over 100 employees within the business and have just recorded their highest turnover year to date.
The majority of the work will be based at Rail depots in the South, so someone based around the Luton area or near by would be ideal.
This role is working a standard 38 hour week. You will get a van & fuel card which can be used for private use. Paid door to door travel. Overtime available. Pension. Bonus scheme of around £3500 paid annually. 1 in 4 call out. OTE of £50k – £55k.
Responsibilities
- To undertake Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) as directed by the Site and Service Manager on company manufactured (or modified) equipment and other manufacturers equipment, including but not limited to; Rail lifting jacks, Wheel Lathes, Rail Shunters and LEV Systems.
- Competent to undertake LOLER inspections of Rail depot lifting and handling equipment and issue a Report of Through Examination to the customer.
- To attend emergency breakdowns when on call (or as requested by management) to identify faults and, if possible to carry out effective repairs on mechanical, electrical or PLC problems.
- Installation and commissioning of Rail depot lifting and handling equipment, designed and manufactured by the company or partners and / or sub-contractors. Installation may require a degree of supervision in which the engineer is deemed as competent.
- To undertake scheduled training sessions and impart information to assess the suitability of trainees for competency on company manufactured (or modified) equipment, this can either be on existing equipment or new equipment following installation and training.
- Provide advice and support to design department on electrical and software design for future/ongoing projects.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in the lifting and handling industry.
- Understanding of LOLER.
- Experience in the rail industry or on industrial sites would be beneficial.
- Good time management skills.
- Ability to communicate with customers & colleagues, and confidently deal with any situations that arise.
- Ensure all work carried out is the best to ability.
- Organised and efficient.
- Full UK Driving License.
