The Opportunity
An interesting and challenging opportunity to join this leading global EPCM working on a diverse range of High Technology projects, including Energy from Waste, Pharmaceutical, Nuclear and Power Generation. As a key member of the design team you will be assisting the Design Manager to achieve the objectives of the Company with respect to process engineering for both internal and external clients.
The Role
- Managing the work and task of other junior process engineers.
- Monitoring, reviewing and reporting on the quality of process designs produced by the team.
- Lead and manage design teams in the production of bids, tenders and full detailed design from concept to handover.
- Prepare estimates for the implementation of process design services.
- Carry out site surveys to identify the Client’s needs and requirements making recommendations as necessary.
- Produce and develop designs for process systems.
- Ensure that designs meet user requirements, cost limits and time scales.
- Contribute to the preparation of Health and Safety method statements and risk assessments in respect of construction work as required by the project to meet current legislation.
- Co-ordinate with Clients, other professions and members of Project Teams.
- Produce tender enquiry documents in respect of contracts for the provision of process systems / services.
- Assist Quantity Surveyors in evaluating tender returns as may be required.
- Monitor and comment on sub-contractors work as may be required on individual projects.
- Contribute to the Engineering Team by attending as and when required regular team meetings and courses to ensure that changes in legislation and Company policies are fully complied with.
- Provide a professional and high quality service in accordance with the Company’s Quality Assurance procedures and assist in the review of standards and procedures to ensure a continuing improvement in the service provided to the company’s clients.
The Person
The successful candidate should possess a degree in Chemical / Process Engineering together with at several years post-qualification experience.
Broad experience in the design, installation, and commissioning of process systems.
Working knowledge of current legislation, standards and practices in process engineering systems.
To be conversant with one or more of the following:
- Process Instrumentation and Control Equipment
- Computer aided design techniques and design calculation software
- Thermal processes (including gasification, pyrolysis, incineration, combustion)
- Steam generation, steam cycle analysis
- Boiler, Steam Turbines, Air/Water Cool Condensers, FGT, BFW design
- Waste and Biomass fuel analysis and treatment
- Anaerobic Digestion Process
- Waste and effluent water treatment
- Process systems software modelling (ie. Thermoflex, Thermoflow, Pipeflow, Aspen)
- Bulk and specialty gas systems
- Toxic gas scrubbing systems
- Gas detection systems
- Process drainage systems
