OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

Introduction

Having been awarded several prestigious government contracts this leading software technology company specialising in home energy management systems is seeking an experienced Account Director. Their clients include home improvement providers, retailers, large service and contracting companies, asset managers, utilities and social landlords.

The Senior Sales Account Director is responsible for managing strategic sales opportunities and client relationships with social housing landlords, energy retailers, and energy service companies. The goal is to secure sales that deliver significant revenues, consolidate strategic relationships and open up opportunities in new markets.

The role is UK focused with a focus on clients based in Wales.

 

Key Responsibilities

The individual in this role will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Preparing the sales plan in line with business plan objectives.
  • Initiating the sales process by building relationships, listening to customer requirements and qualifying potential opportunities.
  • Building sales propositions for the identified priority market sectors, working closely with marketing and product teams.
  • Establishing new sales relationships with energy retailers, new energy companies and social housing landlords.
  • Negotiating terms and closing sales.
  • Managing bids and creating detailed proposal documents, often as part of a formal bidding process dictated by the prospective customer.
  • Managing the sales pipeline, reporting on activities, highlighting priorities and giving a forecast of potential sales revenues.
  • Delivering against revenue and margin targets.

 

Essential Skills and Experience

  • A track record of product and service sales into local government and service channels with clear examples of success.
  • Strong knowledge of service-based business models, delivery of new services through a SaaS architecture and management of a multi-service provider deployments.
  • Evidence of successfully running bids and contracting with social housing clients.
  • Clear written, presentational and verbal communication of product and service concepts.
  • The ability to clearly articulate existing and forthcoming products and services to customers.
  • A resilient disposition and a proven ability to respond positively to critical feedback.

 

Desirable Skills and Experience

It would be beneficial for the candidate to have experience in the following:

  • Experience in the connected home market, especially in energy management, space heating, hot water and renewable technology.
  • Knowledge of forthcoming government energy / climate initiatives on an international basis.
  • Welsh speaking
