OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Company

Our client is a specialist provider of low-pressure water mist and sprinkler systems, with a reputation for delivering an exceptional and proven product to its clients across a wide spectrum.

Working on a national basis carrying out product design, sales, installation and maintenance within commercial, retail, health and educational sectors, to both private and public sector clients.

The Opportunity

They are expanding their commercial team and currently looking for a Quantity Surveyor. Working in a small commercial team alongside the Managing Director you will be given responsibility for reviewing, negotiating and signing off on all new contracts as delivered by Sales & Estimating, maintaining commercial and contractual control over ongoing schemes and playing a key role is resolving any contractual disputes which may arise.

The most important aspect of this role is the contractual element. Therefore, past experience of in construction contracts is essential. So if you have a deep understanding of a range of construction contracts Major, Minor, Simple Complex (ICE / JCT), indemnities and warranties and enjoy work focussed around negotiation and resolution, you will be at home in this job.

Previous experience within the M&E sector is highly desirable however provided that you possess the willingness and ability to learn and progress, candidates from any construction background will be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contract appraisal, negotiation and agreement
  • Accounts management / credit control to a high degree of commercial awareness
  • Communication with clients and external parties
  • Provide project focused support to Managing Director and senior management
  • Production of documents, reports and briefings for clients and internal senior management

Desired experience and Attributes:

  • Quantity Surveying or any construction management or construction law degree
  • Previous experience within construction management and/or M&E works
  • Ability to clearly and professionally negotiate matters to reach the desired outcome
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good Microsoft office skills
  • Proactive, confident and able to work on own initiative, as well as part of a team
