The Opportunity
Our client is a leading Mechanical and Civils Contractor working in the Sewage and Clean Water Service Industry since 1998. Their clients include Thames Water, Southern Water, BTU Utilities LLP, SMB, eight20, Galliford Try, MGJV, Xylem, Ensica Browne and Trant.
As a Mechanical Project Engineer you will be working in a creative and challenging environment, delivering a wide range of projects. Responsible for the delivery of efficient and sustainable solutions, you will work within a multi-disciplinary project team in the delivery of water and wastewater treatment solutions from inception through to completion of construction.
The Position
Your work as a Project Mechanical Engineer will include the following activities:
- Leading the interfaces and integration of the mechanical design with that of other disciplines.
- Managing and preparation of mechanical design deliverables (such as calculations, drawings for plant general arrangements, documentation, schedules, specifications and design reports) to achieve the correct time / cost / quality balance for the project.
- Development of efficient and sustainable engineering solutions, meeting the requirements of the project scope.
- Applying both innovative and standard designs to project problems.
- Supporting the development of the mechanical engineering team.
- You will work closely and collaboratively with the construction team to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions throughout the design stages, into construction and beyond.
- You will positively engage with the Client, managing relationships and adopting a One-Team approach to support them in achieving their aims.
- You will provide support to the site team during the construction stage and will be integral in contributing towards successful project close-outs and post-project reviews.
The Person
- Qualification to degree / HND/ HNC in Engineering or equivalent.
- Proven track record in Project Management, with an Engineering or Supervisory background.
- Good time management, with the ability to multitask, plan and organise day to day workloads within a busy environment.
- Good communication skills in both verbal and written communication and ability to follow, interpret and explain technical instructions.
- Knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to all engineering trades, particularly Mechanical, Plumbing and Civil Engineering.
- Driven, with an ability to work individually and with teams under your direction.
- Innovative thinking, with and ability to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
- Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
