OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Position

Continued expansion has created an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Principle Mechanical Building Services Engineer to join this dynamic company.  Working primarily on projects in the Pharmaceutical, Biopharmaceutical and Food sectors.

This position is a senior, client-facing role requiring the ability to inspire confidence from the taking of a client brief through proposal preparation and project execution.  A key part of this role will be the mentoring of graduate and junior engineers.  The successful candidate may be required to assist the Department Manager with department specific issues, in particular the development of a mechanical department to support the process functions within the business.  The candidate will also be required to support the Business Development team.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Carry out conceptual design studies producing design schemes and deliverables such as capacity analyses, equipment identification / sizing, utility design / sizing and design philosophies.
  • Carry out detailed engineering including preparation of sizing calculations (equipment and utilities) and drawings directly and through supervision of other engineers.
  • Ownership of equipment modules and packages through design and procurement phases
  • Generation of Data Sheets, Material Requisitions & Enquiry Packages for procurement of equipment
  • Generation of Technical Bid Tab Evaluation of vendors in compliance with Client specifications
  • Developing Technical Specifications in compliance with Client requirements
  • Development of each package through Kick-off meetings, Design Reviews, FAT’s etc.
  • Project manage Suppliers to ensure packages are designed, manufactured and tested as per project requirements
  • Interfacing with clients, vendors, client project management and other disciplines ensuring the highest level of service is provided
  • Interfacing with client design team/end users
  • Mechanical optimization/site support
  • Delivery of agreed design scope within budget hours and schedule
  • Utility system design and sizing to meet the requirements of the process equipment / design.
  • Liaise and coordinate with other disciplines within the UK offices, within other PM Group offices and with external consultants.

 

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical (Engineers with a primary degree in Chemical/Process Engineering and relevant process experience may also be considered)
  • Chartered Status desirable
  • Several years professional/design experience in the Pharmaceutical, Biopharmaceutical & Food sectors
  • Self-motivating, self-organising, reliable, consistent and mature approach to work
  • Demonstrable ability to play a positive role in multi-discipline teams
  • Professional approach and demeanour. A strong ethical approach to safety, quality, environmental protection and business.
  • Demonstrable ability to communicate effectively with clients and peers at all levels, with good presentation skills.
