OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Planning Officer on behalf of a local authority affiliated organisation based in Liverpool.

The planning officer will be responsible for carrying out a full range of development management functions within the development management team and provide a first class, customer focused and business friendly service.

 

Role Description

  • Use all resources allocated to specific projects and areas of work effectively and efficiently in accordance with objective.
  • Assess and process all types and scale of planning applications and applications for consent to display advertisements. This includes carrying out all necessary consultations and negotiations; the preparation of recommendations and reports; and attendance at Committee meetings as required.
  • Dealing with appeals against planning decisions, in addition to preparing the companies case and presenting of evidence at public inquiries and hearings, where appropriate.
  • Prepare site briefs to provide guidance to developers.
  • Responding to development enquiries from internal and external sources.
  • Overlook the development of control policies and standards, in conjunction with the Plans and Development Team.
  • To oversee and ensure a balanced and cost effective discharge of the Service’s functions by organising and continuously developing working practices.

Skills & Education

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Town Planning.
  • Relevant experience in a planning office dealing with planning applications.
  • Experience of processing and dealing with planning applications.
  • Hold a full UK driving license.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
