OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical/Electrical Fitter on behalf of a leading electrical service provider, who design, manufacture, install and commission bespoke LV & MV Switchgear.

Established over 35 years, they have several workshops across the UK as well as in America and Singapore.

They specialise in a range of sectors including Marine, Oil & Gas, Rail and Construction. They have a strong client base including the likes of Eon, Drax, Princess Cruises, Network Rail and BP.

As a Mechanical/Electrical Fitter, you will play a critical part of the manufacturing operation. You will demonstrate a sound knowledge of LV switchgear and associated equipment. You will be responsible for examining technical drawings, specifications and wiring diagrams to determine the method and sequence of operations.

This is working 38 hours per week – 8am – 16.45 Mon-Thurs and 8am – 13.00pm Friday. Overtime rates kick in after standard hours.

 

Responsibilities

  • Wiring and switchboard assembly.
  • Operating hand tools, electric tools and associated equipment within the work-shop.
  • Ensure every aspect of health and safety compliance is adhered to.
  • You will select, cut and lay wires and connects to sockets, plugs or terminals by crimping, soldering, brazing or bolting.
  • You will assemble parts and sub-assemblies using hand tools and by brazing, riveting, or welding.
  • You will work accurately and efficiently and will be able to adapt between working as part of a team, to an independent working style.
  • You will maintain high professional standards and cleanliness whilst performing your duties; as well as following stringent health and safety procedures whilst working on-site and in the workshop.

 

Skills & Attributes

  • Good knowledge of LV switchgear and associated equipment.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and wiring diagrams to determine the method and sequence of operations.
  • Ability to work both independently as well as part of a larger engineering team.
  • Ability to work swiftly and competently under pressure, ensuring that work is completed to the highest standards within the timeframes provided.
  • Proactive, can-do attitude and able to work quickly and efficiently whilst using your own initiative.
  • An excellent understanding of Health and Safety.
  • Competent in the use of computers and data handling including Microsoft Office systems.
