OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Opportunity

Our client is a global market leader in the design and manufacture of subsea equipment throughout the world. They work across all business units within the business in order to integrate technologies from the reservoir sand-face to the export point. The division works with customers at the earliest stages of a project lifecycle and develops technological solutions that balance the demand for innovation and field economics.

The Role

The System Engineer’s duties comprises of three key work areas:

  • Technical/Engineering Support for Sales
  • Engineering Study Work (both greenfield and brownfield studies)
  • Tender Technical Lead for System Tenders.

Duties & Responsibilities include;

  • Work closely with the Sales team to strategically pursue projects and customers that align with core technologies and products.
  • Perform the role of technical lead, co-ordinating the relevant work packages to develop engineered solutions to meet the client’s technical requirements.
  • Performs the function of Tender Technical Lead, providing technical leadership of the tender, ensuring that the technical solutions offered by each work package is thorough, complimentary and fully meets the client requirements and agreed technical strategy.
  • Provide technical engineering support to the Sales team and present a link between the design responsible centres-of-excellence and potential clients.
  • Collaborate with client representatives to transform functional aspirations into practical and viable solutions.
  • Present clear development concepts, proposals and suggestions to the client during all phases of work scope.
  • Generate and populate CTR Catalogues for Engineering Studies in conjunction with the Engineering Manager.
  • Conduct/participate in Engineering studies in the Pre-FEED and FEED stages of a project.
  • Manage virtual engineering teams in both technical Lead role and whilst working on engineering studies, to align design efforts to produce drawings, and specifications.
  • Write and compile the systems portion of bids including estimation of project execution hours and providing technical support to schedule and costing departments.
  • Identify and evaluate potential technical risks and participate in risk assessment reviews.
  • Lead technical reviews with internal stakeholders and provide technical support for gate approval meetings.
  • Lead technical clarification meetings with the client, negotiate system level exceptions and clarifications and support work packages as necessary.

The Person

  • Degree in a relevant engineering field or suitable alternative qualification.
  • Ideally at several years experience in subsea equipment design and / or subsea systems engineering.
  • Track record in participating and leading production systems tenders or pre-contract award studies preferred.
  • Demonstrated abilities in the development and application of technical knowledge in planning, conducting and coordinating complex multinational technical assignments.
  • Knowledge of national and international codes and regulations for subsea production systems.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications (PowerPoint, Word, Excel etc).
  • Knowledge of Autodesk products (AutoCAD and Inventor) would also be beneficial
  • Team player with a proactive attitude and ability to organise own workload, lead virtual teams and act as a coach and mentor to less experienced engineers in the office.
  • In depth technical knowledge and the ability to facilitate technical discussions/ meetings or write technical reports.
  • Demonstrate commercial awareness and business acumen that goes beyond the department in order to contribute to and facilitate the way teams / departments complement and support each other.
  • Understanding of general operations procedures and requirements.
  • Demonstrates strong health and safety awareness.
  • Adaptable / flexible approach and prepared for occasional international travel.
  • Interface management skills.

Benefits

Salary range £50- 60K plus bonus, ranging from 10% to 20%. 25 days holiday plus statutory holidays rising to 27 days after 5 years, family private healthcare, subsidized café and free gym on site, range of Flexible benefits , free electric car charging points.

* Note – this is a hybrid role working 3 days from home and 2 days in the office.
