Overview
We are currently recruiting for a Fire Safety Manager on behalf of a local authority in the Derbyshire area.
The Fire Safety Manager will provide a comprehensive Fire Safety compliance service for all Council owned and similar 3rd party customers’ buildings and land, being the key advisor to the Corporate Landlord on compliance of the Corporate Estate regarding Fire Safety.
Responsibilities
- Provide a comprehensive Fire Safety compliance service for all Council owned and similar 3rd party customers’ buildings and land
- Provide comprehensive expert advice to colleagues, duty holders and customers to ensure the legislative duties under approved document B and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) order 2005 are discharged effectively
- Develop policies, processes and procedures that improve and manage fire compliance and support the Councils Corporate Landlord approach.
- Be the accountable fire expert in the planning and delivery of all building, construction and maintenance projects
- Take responsibility for all aspects of fire risk assessments and remedial construction or maintenance work within corporate buildings arising out of such assessments.
- Provide the focal point for fire safety and compliance consultations and advice, providing a high degree of independent decision making and professionalism.
- Prepare technical reports and supporting information for chief officers, clients, other teams and end users.
- Carry out feasibility and high level reports including budget costing.
Experience & Qualifications
- Degree in Fire Engineering or Fire Safety Management
- Full membership of MIFE
- Knowledge and application of most recent standards for fire safety management including BS 7974, BS9999, approved document B and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) order 2005.
- Extensive experience in providing technical direction with regard to fire safety management
- Experience of managing and ensuring building compliance according to fire safety regulations, professional guidance and good practice.
