We are looking to recruit an experienced Expeditor to join a leading Manufacturing/ Engineering business based north of York. This position has been created due to growth in the business and backlog in orders therefore looking for help with materials control and progress chasing of outstanding components. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working within a expediting role within an engineering / manufacturing environment, ideally with knowledge of Mechanical/ Electrical Assembly and Testing (NDT/ Pressure Testing)  The successful candidate will be required to manage all aspects of materials control resulting in continuous output.

Candidates will ideally be familiar working with MRP’s ( SAP/Navision/ Sage) and be proactive in their approach to work,

Hours – Monday – Thursday 0830 – 1630 – Friday 0830 – 1600

Overtime available at premium rates after 38 hours

Role Description

• Ensures assembly/sub-assembly build times are met to maintain department efficiency target of 100%.
• Ensures assembly/sub assembly build times are met for major project schedule into integration dates and component/spares WO completion dates.
• Ensure all components are to correct quality standards of manufacture & testing
• Complete all necessary documentation according to the requirements, (including timesheets, ECN, NCR …etc.)
• Identify appropriate component and sub-assembly stock holding for identified component and spare parts
• Embrace LEAN principles to ensure the quality, cost and lead time.
• Support any technical or non-technical activities to ensure delivery of equipment.
• Internal/external expediting.
• Proactive internal and external expediting of components.
• Coordination of production orders throughout departments within the business.
• Liaising with departments and creating good working relationships to ensure production flow.

Skills & Attributes

• Previous experience within an expediting/ progress chasing role within an Engineering/ Manufacturing Environment
• NVQ/ HNC Qualified within an Engineering/ Manufacturing Discipline.
• Ability to prioritise workload and manage work pressure.
• Good understanding of an MRP system ( Ideally Navision/ SAP)
• Excellent communication skills
