OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Opportunity

Our client is involved in the design, manufacture and delivery of handling equipment for the rail Industry. Their heavy lifting products help rail maintenance providers improve servicing times and heighten levels of safety and efficiency. They ship their products internationally, as far afield as New Zealand, South Africa and Hong Kong. Their customers include Siemens, Hitachi, Network Rail, Bombardier and Alstom.

 

The Role

  • Managing the design team
  • Developing design solutions for projects, from feasibility through to production
  • Maintaining technical files and documentation
  • Liaise with team members, production, and other departments
  • Attend internal project handover meetings and client ‘kick-off’ meeting as necessary
  • Establish and maintain lines of technical communication with the client
  • Communicate manufacturing and assembly information to Production Department
  • Carrying out design calculations
  • Ensuring that all designs comply with current legislation and Company standards.
  • Overseeing the production O&M manuals
  • Site surveys
  • Carrying out commissioning activities
  • Writing technical specs for suppliers
  • Sentinel Safety Critical Role

 

The Person

  • The ideal candidate will be from a manufacturing background with solid design experience
  • Preferably mechanically qualified, HND/HNC or Degree
  • A good working knowledge of design software, such as Solidworks, Inventor, AutoCAD
  • Managerial experience is essential
  • Rail experience is desirable
