My client, a leading international manufacturer are looking to recruit an experienced Cost Estimator to join the business in North East Manchester on a permanent basis.
The successful candidate will be required to create cost proposals around company products for a wide variety of engineering solutions identified across a vast number of Brownfield sites.
The ideal candidate will ideally have worked within a cost estimating role within a engineering environment with a strong analytical background. Candidates with experience estimating on total engineered solutions including third party costs would be at a distinct advantage.
Duties :
• Supporting the Brownfield Optimisation team in developing commercial proposals following audits at selected customers sites throughout Europe and North Africa
• Experience in costing and pricing, contract administrations and client communications
• Preparation and quick turnaround of budgetary estimates for the proposed solution utilising existing equipment prices and estimating metrics for civil, groundwork, steel structure and installation as required
• Review the revised flow sheet and assist in the preparation of the scope of work and costing requirements for the identified solutions
• Preparation of customer tenders based on identified solutions and ensure clearance in accordance with the companies commercial practises
• Deal with all aspects of client liaison & design including preparations of quotations for a range of contract values including site inspections and meetings where required to deliver in the most balanced commercially advantageous/reliable solution
• Liaison with third party partners/subcontractors/material providers to allow the preparation of budgetary and firm price proposals
• To coordinate the bid review process by liaising with other functions within the business to ensure there is a clear understanding of the scope of supply, accurate estimation of costs, achievable lead times and an assessment of the overall commercial risk
• Cost Analysis for ongoing project work and conducting lesson learnt following the completion of projects
Experience & Skills
• Experience in estimating and quantity surveying working on projects from pre-tender to project delivery
• Experience in detailing and understanding process flow sheets, equipment lists and plant solutions

• Good knowledge of the most commonly used Conditions of Contract and good at identifying risks (commercial and construction)
• A good understanding of the Construction Industry and all aspects of the Estimating process
Qualifications/ Requirements
• Engineering Degree and/or HNC, HND OR BSc in relevant degree (Construction, Civils’, Quantity Surveying)
• Awareness and knowledge of SAP, Aggflow, JK Simnent (preferred)
• Demonstrable experience working within a Cost Estimating role within the engineering sector
• Knowledge of the Valve/ Pump/Mining industry would be advantageous
