The Opportunity
Our client is a leading Civil Engineering and Construction Company delivering high quality projects across the UK and Ireland. Working across Northern Ireland, the English Midlands and the Republic of Ireland, they are responsible for delivering complex projects across civil, residential, educational and commercial sectors.
Due to the continued growth of the business, an exciting new position has been created for a Buyer with experience within the construction sector.
The Position
- The role will involve the sourcing, negotiation and procurement of subcontractors, materials and plant throughout the UK and Ireland.
- Management and approval of the procurement process.
- Approval of invoices for supplier payments.
- Ensure that all subcontractors, materials and plant are procured with a delivery, cost and quality mindset.
- Developing market knowledge and identifying potential suppliers, subcontractors and value engineering possibilities.
- Assess and gather all necessary information to produce comprehensive enquiry packages in line with program requirements.
- Compare and evaluate all quotations against scheme budgets and issue order the most advantage quotation.
- Assist the Estimating & Commercial department with tender/post tender enquiries when required.
- Update supplier information for Site teams to use.
- Support site teams through the construction process with take-off of materials etc.
The Person:
- The ability to prioritise and work within set deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build and improve effective internal and external working relationships.
- 3+ years’ experience in purchasing within the Construction Industry.
- Knowledge or experience of working within ISO9001 and ISO14001 systems.
- CPIS membership would be desirable.
