Overview
We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor on behalf of a global multi-disciplinary engineering, construction and facilities management company.
The company employ more than 75,000 members of staff worldwide and operate across a wide range of sectors including Defence, Education, Utilities, Retail, Commercial and Industrial projects.
The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will work alongside the senior members of the Commercial team to assist with the management of the supply chain and project costs relating to construction projects to ensure overall financial success of a project.
Role Description
- Ensure the full and proper implementation of company procedures.
- Assist senior staff in the issue and management of records and documentation relating to contract accounts;
- Assist in the prompt and regular submission of main contract payment applications and subsequent cash collection together with the preparation of sub-contractor payments.
- Assist in the preparation of draft sub-contracts to the level of responsibility delegated by the individuals supervisor.
- Assist in the monitoring of sub-contractor performance in consultation with senior staff.
- Assist senior staff in pricing variations;
- Assist senior staff in design cost control/value engineering;
- Assist senior staff in the compilation of data to monitor individual contract performance on a monthly and quarterly basis;
- Apply a neat and accurate approach in all day to day activities and to strive to enhance one’s own professional capability;
- Be aware of business continuity processes via Line Manager
Skills & Attributes
- Construction related degree (preferably quantity surveying) or working towards.
- Proficient in the use of MS packages e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project (desirable);
- Experience of working in a construction environment;
- Experience of working on Framework projects would be an advantage;
- Experience of working for a large contractor (desirable);
- Practical and logical qualities and a methodical way of thinking;
- A creative and innovative approach to problem-solving;
- Ability to take off quantities in accordance with standard methods of measurement;
- Ability to write clear and precise reports and to relate complex information simply to a diverse range of people;
- Strong numeric and financial management skills with an ability to learn sophisticated design and costing IT packages (desirable).
