OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to work on a wide range of construction projects on behalf of a local authority.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quantity surveying services within design teams to complete projects on budget, on programme, with the required content and to the required quality.
  • Provide a comprehensive cost planning service on projects at all stages from capital planning and Service Asset Management Plans through to Final Accounts.
  • Provide advice on design cost efficiency and life cycle costing to design teams, clients and officers and Members of the County Council.
  • Manage the financial aspects of building contracts in accordance with the Authority’s Financial Regulations
  • Provide advice and assist in dealing with claims, disputes and contractual and legal issues surrounding procurement and building contracts.
  • Provide technical advice to officers, members and other parties involved in project procurement.
  • Implement and assist in the development of agreed office procedures.
  • Service the democratic process by preparing reports, providing professional advice and supporting Elected Members in implementing the Service Business Plan.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Chartered Quantity Surveyor.
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying Or significant experience in a Quantity Surveying role
  • Project management qualifications and/or experience.
  • Quantity Surveying experience on construction projects
  • Good working knowledge of the construction industry
  • Computer literacy and use of Microsoft Office
  • Negotiation skills

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
