OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Opportunity

Due to a substantial increase in work load an exciting and challenging opportunity exists working for one of the country’s leading specialist Contractors within concrete, groundworks, structural alterations and building works. The company is involved in carrying out complex and challenging structural work projects in a variety of sectors, including Rail and major Infrastructure projects, as well as commercial developments.

The Role

The position will involve the following responsibilities;

  • Liaise with site teams to develop construction sequences and identify where temporary structures will be required
  • Design of temporary structures including production of report
  • Production of drawings showing construction sequences and temporary structure details
  • Design of steel connections
  • Liaison with steel fabricators to oversee fabrication drawing production
  • Liaison with site engineers to produce surveys in order to produce steel fabrication drawings
  • Assist commercial team in pricing tenders where technical input is required
  • Rationalise client engineers designs and negotiate changes with client engineer
  • Attend design meetings

The Person

The successful candidate will be a suitably qualified and experienced in the following areas:

  • Experience designing temporary works would be a benefit
  • Experience designing steel connections would be a benefit
  • Must be able to design to BS standards and Eurocodes
  • Must have experience designing with all material types
  • Must be presentable and articulate – candidate will be required to represent company in meetings
  • Must be capable of using AutoCad
