Overview
We are currently recruiting for an engineer on behalf of a local authority affiliated organisation based in Liverpool.
The engineer will provide technical and managerial support to the traffic management and road safety team.
This role may require you to work occasional evenings or weekends.
Role Description
- Designate and manage staff to assess and deliver traffic management programmes and policies to agreed budgets, timescales and standards.
- Comply with company standards and health and safety procedures.
- Monitor and provide information on the performance of the network at different times of the day/ evening. This will require you at times to work evening and weekends.
- Oversee and provide information to the Principal Engineer Network Co-ordination and Network Support and Clients on traffic management projects, in relation to timescales, cost and quality.
- Attend meetings as a representative for the service when required and promote it in presentations and other appropriate means.
- Provide assistance in planning for the development of existing and implementation of new procedures, systems and equipment to meet continuous improvement objectives and Best Value.
- Assist senior staff with both Co-ordination and management of planned and emergency works on the public highway.
- Identification and design of traffic management schemes.
- Oversee and approval of schemes designed and implemented by consultants.
- Respond to traffic management issues and enquiries.
- Provide technical support on traffic management issues.
- Monitor traffic management schemes and overview the effectiveness.
Skills and Education
- Driving license
- Good communication skills
- Previous experience in the highways and transportation industry
- The ability to provide management support to other staff members
