Overview
We are currently recruiting for a Water Hygiene Support Technician to join the Estates Department of this high profile University complex.
The Water Hygiene Support Technician will be responsible for the delivery of planned preventative and reactive maintenance of the mechanical services across the university, ensuring adherence to operational, regulatory and University compliance requirements.
The role is key to maintaining University functions and will assist the Water Hygiene Manager to ensure that all water systems are fully compliant with all aspects of current health and safety legionella legislation and health care standards.
This is a permanent position working 37.5 hours per week. You will receive 34 days annual leave inclusive of 8 bank holidays and 6 university closure days. You will also be enrolled on to the pension scheme with an employers contribution of 21%.
Responsibilities
- To support the Water Hygiene Manager in all aspects of Water Hygiene.
- To act as a point of contact for matters regarding Water Hygiene.
- To work with Schools and Professional Services for the management of Water Hygiene.
- Manage and conduct fault finding across all water systems.
- Work closely with the Mechanical Services Manager and Park Leads to ensure that all aspects of water hygiene management are being met and assist as required to close out any problems and issues.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant guidelines, statutory acts and regulations and ensure feedback of compliance issues and actions are shared with the appropriate teams.
- To provide management information for the Water Safety Group, working with the Water hygiene Manager to produce reports and feedback on any current issues at the university.
- To produce monthly reports for PPM’s, defects etc showing our current position against targets.
- To carry out audits of both Internal staff and external contractors to ensure they are working as per the laid down guidance.
- Maintain a Safe System of Work process and periodically update as may be required.
- Liaise with, monitor and control the activities of external contractors working at the University.
- You will be expected to deliver a high level of customer focused service and participate in additional training as and when required.
- Have a working knowledge of the BMS system.
- Be pro-active in undertaking training and development as required for the role
- To support and promote a positive Health and Safety culture within the team
- Attendance may also be required occasionally outside normal hours to deal with certain maintenance procedures.
- Offer support to the stores counter as and when required.
Skills & Attributes
- Hold a recognised Mechanical Services Qualification e.g., Plumbing, (minimum City and Guilds Level 2)
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Good working knowledge of mechanical services in a broad range of building infrastructure types.
- Experience of working in occupied premises.
- Familiar with reading and interpreting engineering and building schematic drawings.
- Able to work on own initiative, being proactive in foreseeing and addressing problems or issues.
- Able to communicate effectively with staff, customers and colleagues verbally and have report writing skills.
- Be computer literate, able to read and work with installation drawings, MS excel, MS word.
- A willingness to undertake future training as required.
