The Opportunity
To complete a variety of tasks to contribute towards the efficient running of the workshop on a day to day basis. Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering of jobs from customer specification to shop floor and to assist with sales and estimating.
The Position
- To produce detailed drawings, assembly drawings, construction/design drawings and bill of materials for metal fabrication, sheet metalwork, steelwork, pipework and custom machinery projects.
- To work to relevant engineering codes and standards, as well as best practice.
- Update existing drawings and complete as built drawings, where required.
- Provide project and design support both internally and to our clients.
- Preparing M&E drawings.
- Amending drawings (including schematics) to Engineers mark-ups.
- Gain an understanding of our current equipment and machinery.
- Gain an understanding of existing product ranges and through innovative techniques change and introduce new processes or new ways to do specific tasks.
- Experience in the use of MS office.
- Deal competently with incoming phone calls and e-mails from customers in a helpful and courteous manner whilst maintaining high levels of professionalism at all times.
- Assist with the administration for existing customers.
- Assist when required with preparing estimates and CAD drawings for customers.
- Able to comply and maintain company’s CAD standards and workflows.
- Preparation of Workshop drawings and production schedules.
- Collaboration and co-ordination of multiple design discipline models.
- Ensure and maintain utmost confidentiality of information.
- To carry out any Production Assistant activities within the Workshop
The Person
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD 2D drafting software is required, although not essential as full training will be provided.
- Good IT skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Good levels of written and verbal communication. A desire to learn in a fast-moving environment.
- Hands on Electrical/ Mechanical and technical skills, although not essential as full training will be provided.
- An understanding of mechanical engineering and workshop fabrication & previous experience of working in an office.
- Will be well organised, systematic and someone who enjoys the challenge of sales.
- Be a team player.
- Be enthusiastic, positive attitude, confident and have a desire to succeed.
- A good working knowledge of the design process from conception and specification through to evaluation.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities – Keen attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Work with and provide support to applicable Managers.
- Good communication skills and working with a team to work.
