OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

Overview

Due to continuous growth, we are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer on behalf of one of the UK’s leading specialist flooring manufacturers.

Established over 100 years, they are well recognised within the industry and a major exporter to Europe, the Middle East and Asia. They provide their services to a range of sectors including commercial offices, education, leisure, retail and residential.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be joining a developing maintenance team, helping to drive the maintenance strategy forward towards achieving world class maintenance. Key responsibilities within the role will be to carry out preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown repairs. Seeing improvement opportunities on repeat failures and implementing them.

This is a shift based role working an average of 40 hours per week. This position will mainly be working on day shifts, although there will be times you will be required to work early and late shifts.

 

Responsibilities

  • Have knowledge of preventative maintenance and help transition the department to a proactive one. Be highly motived and driven to achieve targets/goals set by the maintenance manager.
  • Have knowledge of permit to work, risk assessments & method statements. Ability to work from standard operating procedures and help create new ones as required.
  • Experience in reducing machine down time through data collection, projects and a right first time mentality.
  • Good problem solving skills, with a methodical way of fault finding to determine route causes and eliminate repeat faults, minimising machine downtime.
  • Be able assist in developing preventive and corrective maintenance programs.

 

Skills & Attributes

  • Qualified to ONC / HNC / C&G / NVQ / BTEC level or Apprentice trained.
  • Good all round engineering background including fabrication skills and experience of working with pneumatics, hydraulics, motors and gearboxes.
  • Some electrical knowledge.
  • Experience of working on packaging/production machinery and conveyors.
  • Previous experience of working with textile machinery and web production lines would be beneficial.
  • The ability to work independently and use your own initiative.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety standards.
