OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

Overview

We are currently recruiting for Business Development Managers on behalf of an established market leader and provider of water treatment technologies to all municipal water companies in the UK and Ireland. Their products and services help protect the health of the rivers, seas and drinking water which we all rely on.

Operating for over 25 years, they are part of a bigger group made up of 5 companies. This company has over 120 members of staff working for it. They provide solutions for water management, waste water treatment, clean water treatment and surface water management.

Their head office is based in Cornwall and they are a Tier 1 contractor for all major water utility companies. They are the largest manufacturer of static and mechanical CSO screens in Europe. They manufacture flood management products, large scale sewage treatment tanks and filtration products. They offer the full package which is planning, design, manufacture, through to installation and commissioning.

These are both national roles. There will be national travel involved in both posts, but this wouldn’t be day in day out, or even weekly, but every 2nd or 3rd week a trip involving a few overnights should be expected.  E.g sales presentations, conferences, client meetings etc.

Location wise, of course in Cornwall is great, but these roles needn’t be based here and can work from home most of the time.  If remote, we’d likely want you in head office once a month (hotel costs etc would be covered).

The main purpose of the role is to ensure that the company is seen as the expert within the water industry on all things Stormwater. Principally, to elevate their Stormwater market position from a supplier of CSO screens and storm tank flushing, to a centre of excellence on end to end stormwater management and treatment as public awareness and undoubtedly legislative drivers increase.

Responsibilities

  • Lead business development efforts on all S&S technologies.
  • Working together with R&D Team, drive appropriate product introduction and placement for enhanced CSO’s

-On-site trials of technologies to achieve ‘no environmental harm’ from CSO spills

-Participation in relevant national trials programmes (e.g CIP)

-Presentation at relevant industry conferences of existing and developed technologies.

  • Working with the Marketing Team, drive brand recognition and supplier of choice status across our market.

-Ensure company branding of all technologies promoted

  • Take ownership of segment financial performance

-Understand and influence solution proposals and cost

-Determine standard ‘list’ pricing

-Work with regional Area Managers to set scheme by scheme pricing

  • Drive growth in segment turnover both via increased sales (win % and range of clients) and increased typical value (introduction of higher value technologies to the market).

This position shall be responsible for ensuring we have a product portfolio in Screening & Stormwater tailored to match the industry demands, as we might predict will arrive. These products may include;

  • Traditional CSO screens (Peak Screen, Mecmex, letterbox, flat screen)
  • Flow control equipment (Biogest supply partner)
  • Storm tank flushing product range (proprietary CWF, Biogest flushing gates plus others as required)
  • Mecana ‘AquaStorm’
  • Ovivo ‘StormBlox’ (or other SiC membrane package)
  • ELOZONIQ Ozone treatment technology
  • ‘Smart Sewers’, Internet of Things (IOT).
  • Other technologies as may emerge with promise for this sector

The role will require skills ostensibly in New Product Introduction as opposed to New Product Development.

The position should require regular attendance at key industry conferences and trade shows to ensure awareness of upcoming demands and to elevate the companies standing in this sector.

The position may require identification of new technologies and suppliers, and negotiation with new suppliers of the technical and commercial relationship.

Ownership and maintenance of all patents and intellectual property relating to Stormwater, liaising with external legal advisers as appropriate.

Reporting of any Quality, Health & Safety or Environmental (QHSE) concerns is a universal requirement of all staff members. Regardless of role and expertise, if something doesn’t look right, raise it.

  • ‘State of the market’ roundup -6-monthly. Summary covering;

-Expectations re. introduction of new CSO consents (timing, quality, quantity)

-Readiness to implement solutions

-Technology needs / gaps in our suite

  • Update on SKion Water collaboration efforts (training, designs, piloting, tendering, sales) – Monthly
  • S&S Sales Forecast – ongoing live forecast to be maintained
