OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Opportunity

Continued expansion of this leading specialist mechanical contractor in the Nuclear and Rail Industry has created an exciting and interesting opportunity for a Junior Cost Engineer. The role will involve the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist in the compilation of the internal reports as needed
  • Assist in the compilation of the external reports as needed
  • Ensure that all costs and hours expended on the project are allocated to the correct package. Ensure this data is checked with the Quantity Surveyor to ensure accuracy.
  • Ensure any incorrect costs and hours are transferred to their correct location in a timely manner.
  • Monitor internal labour costs to ensure that all charges are being allocated to the project as expected.
  • Recording and coding all accounting transactions accurately to the project by performing analysis of SAP ledgers.
  • Assisting in the compilation of the monthly application for payment.
  • Producing spreadsheets of travel and mileage costs.
  • Other tasks as required from time to time in offering general commercial support to the commercial team.

 

The Person

Essential Skills:

  • Cost ledger experience, validating cost ledger entries, performing journals, creating accruals etc.
  • Strong administrative skills and accurate data collection / verification skills.
  • Advanced Excel spreadsheet skills
  • An understanding of accounting software such as SAP, SAGE, COINS or similar.
  • An eye for detail
  • Construction sector experience

  • Local to Bury (Greater Manchester).
